EARTH HISTORY MUSEUM
Vernadsky State Geological Museum
The Earth History Museum is the oldest in Moscow,
founded according to the ideas of M. Lomonosov through donations
from the Demidovs in 1755. The museum was renewed in 1988.

It is a scientific and educational centre of Russian Academy of Sciences in the field of the Earth’s sciences.

Our museum, keeping the collections gathered all over the world during two and a half centuries, develops Vernadsky’s doctrine on the unity of living and non-living matter, the relationship between the Earth and the cosmos, transformation of the biosphere into the noosphere (a sphere of the human mind) and human responsibility for the Earth’s environment.
